The Horticultural Crops Development Authority is a parastatal established under the Agricultural Act, Cap 318. The Authority is responsible to develop, promote, coordinate and regulate the horticultural industry in Kenya. The Authority is empowered to:-
Regulate the industry through licensing and application of rules.
Provide advisory services to the government and the industry for planning purposes.
Provide marketing intelligence information to the industry.
Organise provision of inputs on cost recovery basis to farmers and assist in grading, storage, collection, transportation and warehousing of product destined for markets.
Establish a specialized extension wing within the organizational structure.
Undertake limited marketing on cost recovery basis.
