 The Horticultural Crops Development Authority is a parastatal established under the Agricultural Act, Cap 318. The Authority is responsible to develop, promote, coordinate and regulate the horticultural industry in Kenya. The Authority is empowered to:-
  • Regulate the industry through licensing and application of rules.
  • Provide advisory services to the government and the industry for planning purposes.
  • Provide marketing intelligence information to the industry.
  • Organise provision of inputs on cost recovery basis to farmers and assist in grading, storage, collection, transportation and warehousing of product destined for markets.
  • Establish a specialized extension wing within the organizational structure.
  • Undertake limited marketing on cost recovery basis.
