IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by section 46 of the AFFA Act, 2013, the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture in consultation with the Board, makes the following Regulations: - HORTICULTURAL CROPS REGULATIONS, 2013.

HCDA has been carrying out successful demonstrations and/or trials for different horticultural crops and technologies, mainly on new varieties of crops in the market. From these trials and demonstrations, we usually gather very useful practical information. We would like to share these experiences with the other stakeholders in the industry. EFFECTIVE 1st JANUARY 2013 All Exporters of Beans and Peas (French Beans, Runner Beans, Sugar Snaps, Snow Peas and Garden Peas) are required to fill the COMMON ENTRY DOCUMENT Annex II (download) in line with new EU requirements.

MARKET SURVEYS - HCDA conduct market surveys to link Kenyan producers, traders and exporters to potential markets both local and international. The surveys identify major importers/traders/distributers, consumption trends in volumes and values and document economic, social, cultural and political environments of regions under survey which are key ingredients for viable/attractive markets.

Horticultural Crops Availability Chart for fruits, Vegetables, Herbs and cut flowers

To truly move forward horticulture as a business into a globally competitive world, HCDA has progressed its use of ICT Technology and systems. This has led to significant cost savings and efficiency improvements. With the centralized registrations of horticultural crops produce dealers HCDA has managed to enhance tracebility of crops and curb unwanted activities in the sector.
The centralized registration allows HCDA to have close control of all the Horticultural Crops Produce Dealers’ activities. The use of the ICT techology and systems has enabled HCDA to offer quicker services to all the stakeholders since all business processes have been automated and by placed in a useful and standardized  format.
